Celebrating Our Community Impact in 2025 – Thank You for Being Part of It

As 2025 draws to a close, I wanted to take a moment to pause, reflect, and say a heartfelt thank you.

HK Hair & Wellness has always been about so much more than hair and beauty. It’s about people, inclusion, accessibility, sustainability, education, and community. None of what you’re about to read would be possible without your continued support, trust, and belief in what we are building together.

Here’s a snapshot of what we are incredibly proud to have achieved this year:

Education & Opportunity

  • 395 hours of work experience completed in our space by students from Milton Keynes College, Northampton College, and local Year 10 students

  • Delivered workshops for Milton Keynes College staff and students, sharing how we work towards our sustainability goals and more organisations planned.

Sustainability & Environment

  • 95% of all waste from our space recycled

  • All hair cut under 7 inches reused for compost and as a natural wildlife pest deterrent

  • 22 client hair donations posted by us to The Little Princess Trust

Awards & Recognition

  • MK Inspiration Award – Most Sustainable Business 2025

  • UK Salon Awards – Best Bridal Stylist in Buckinghamshire 2025 (Hannah Klewpatinond)

  • UK Salon Awards – Most Sustainable Salon in Buckinghamshire 2025

Community & Collaboration

  • Organised a bridal photoshoot in support of Willen Hospice Bridal Shop, bringing together 8 local organisations, with the images featured in Your Wedding Magazine – Beds, Bucks & Herts

  • Continued involvement with Q-Alliance, YMCA, MKSnap and MK Act, ensuring our inclusion and community work reaches far beyond our physical walls

  • Pop up hair & beauty salon at MK:U, University of Cranfield

  • This Christmas, thanks to your generosity and our team’s support, we provided 34 gift hampers to MK Act, ensuring adults in refuge care received gifts this festive season

Our Space & Our Team

  • Welcomed a new team member, Kaci, helping us offer more availability for beauty services

  • Transformed our wellness area to include an additional treatment room, space for pop-up clinics, and an office area to support team development, college visits, and future growth (and yes, finally somewhere for me to tackle paperwork with our beautiful farm view!)

  • Our team enjoyed continued professional development, off-site weddings and photoshoots, and even a wellness event walking alpacas 🦙

  • We were also privileged to share the joy of our Stylist Annmarie's wedding day!

Accessibility & Inclusion

  • A privilege this year was welcoming a client paralysed from the neck down for full highlighting, cut and styling services. Previously, this client had needed to have their hair coloured at home in the shower due to accessibility limitations elsewhere. Thanks to the way we have thoughtfully designed our space, we were able to comfortably and safely deliver the full service using our fully accessible sink basin and the client' care team — something that felt incredibly special for both the client and our team.

  • We have also been honoured to support six transgender clients with their first gender-affirming haircuts, as well as brow and lash services as desired. Being trusted with such an important milestone is something we don’t take lightly, and we are so excited to continue welcoming them back into our space as they return and grow in confidence.

  • We have ensured our curly and textured hair services are now clearly defined, because although inclusion is embedded within our space, we know it is unfortunately never assumed

Our Clients – You

  • We welcomed over 200 new clients into our space this year — welcome!

  • To those who have been with us since Furtho, and those who have visited us for decades, please accept my heartfelt thanks. Your loyalty, kindness, and openness to the positive changes we’ve made with our brand values truly keeps us going.

Looking Ahead to 2026

  • Further development of our one-to-one hairdressing services to ensure they are easy to book and fully accessible

  • The launch of pedicure services in January!

  • Continued outreach with local organisations and community groups to share the accessibility of our space and welcome even more people to HK Hair & Wellness

  • As a small independent business, the government changes have affected us more in the last 12 months than ever before. We have needed to streamline some services, but are committed to our values and core beliefs as we move into 2026. Every time you mention us to your friends and family, increases the possibility of new clients through our door, thus helping our business sustainability for the future- THANK YOU!

From all of us, thank you for being part of our journey. Whether you visit us regularly, recommend us to friends, donate hair, or simply support us from afar — you are part of our community, and we are so grateful.

With heartfelt thanks,

Hannah and the whole team at HK Hair & Wellness
