First bridal photoshoot since lockdown... New normal but old excitement!

Although weddings are now thankfully still going ahead, they are currently restricted to thirty guests. For the UK wedding industry, this means that many suppliers haven’t been able to work since March or have needed to diversify their businesses in order to survive. When HK Hair got the chance to feature an editorial in a well-known wedding magazine a few weeks ago, we were delighted that the Editor also agreed to use an accompanying image if we could create a suitable one in time. Fast forward TEN days and we were lucky enough to have a fantastic collaboration of suppliers join us at short notice to create the most amazing images.

Never one to miss out on an opportunity to support other businesses too, I am delighted to say that SEVEN suppliers gave up their last Bank Holiday Sunday until Christmas and joined HK Hair at the incredible Furtho Manor Farm. Our first photo shoot since lockdown certainly involved additional Risk Assessments, however all our suppliers were supportive and our models grateful of our extra measures. The main barn’s vast space meant it was perfect to social distance the supplier areas of hair, makeup and wardrobe. With temperature checks on arrival, hand sanitiser in abundance, a maximum of two models to every makeup artist or hairstylist and the same enhanced PPE you see us using in salon since we reopened; we ensured everyone’s safety so we could then just focus on the exciting opportunity to create awesome content!

With Andrew Jolly from A Jolly Photography’s photographing the whole day, we were blessed with his range of skill… as well as his patience! He is not only an accomplished wedding photographer but Andrew also specialises in landscape and architectural shoots; immediately putting the models (and suppliers!) at ease. The initial shoot involved images of the suppliers prepping, then we took the models outside to use the backdrop of the lake and Dovecote, moving then to the inside of St Bartholomew’s Church.

Charlotte Swatton, owner of Dresses & Dreams in Beachampton attended all day with around 20 dresses. We were so lucky with the incredible range of both bridal and prom dresses and her boutique is now open post-lockdown for prearranged appointments.

Makeup was provided by Sweta Lad Makeup; Makeup by Della B and H.M Makeup; three incredible professionals who provided the safest shoot environment, most beautiful makeup but also worked alongside each other amazingly despite only being introduced that day!

You will see from the images we were loaned beautiful bespoke hair accessories made by Lucie Green Couture! Lucie has a fabulous online shop but can also be contacted to make one off pieces from combs, hair vines, wrist cuffs, earrings, and garters. I personally own many Lucie Green fascinators and hair combs that I have worn to several weddings, and she is a true expert to advise on the perfect accessories to complement your dream dress!

Last but least was HK Hair. Although we are hairstyling, cutting and colouring experts; we LOVE (and proud to excel at) wedding and bridal hair. We feel privileged to spend the wedding day morning with a bride and her bridal party, and it is an area of our business we have desperately missed in 2020. Although our initial consultations with brides planning their day are now virtual (Zoom, Facetime etc) the rest of the process remains the same … just with additional PPE for now. We love to discuss the bride’s overall theme, their dress, bridesmaid outfits and venues, and then support them to find a style they are delighted with whilst feeling comfortable too. Our pricing is on our Weddings page of our website and use the “Book a Consultation” button if you would like to discuss your most important day and how we can support you!

Our awesome suppliers and friends in the industry are listed below, please do check them out and share their wonderful business!
